Arrests Made

Following reports received from members of the public yesterday about ducklings and a nest being interfered with in the river at Rutland Recreation Ground, Bakewell.  Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team and Rural Crime Team attended and spoke to two youths.

The youths were initially arrested as they refused to give details to a police constable, as per Section 50 of the Police Reform Act 2002.  They were then interviewed under caution in relation to an offence contrary to Schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.  Both have now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
